Our 9th Annual Sierra City trip was another great one to remember. The challenges we faced didn’t stop us from having a fantastic time. A few days prior to our departure, the smoke was thick as the nearby fires raged, the power was temporarily shut off in the area, and the national forests closed. But we “dodged a few bullets” as the smoke turned out to be less dense and better in Sierra City than it was in Reno at the time and the power came back on just in time for our arrival.
Hiking was limited in the area with the forest closures, although we found a few local hikes and enjoyed spending time at the beautiful grounds of the property we stayed at, with the Yuba River Inn running right through it. Many walked into town for lunch and shopping/browsing.
Our Saturday night BBQ was delicious, equipped with “masked” servers with plenty of hand sanitizer abound! There was plenty of room in the area to social distance, allowing participants to choose where to hang out. And after dinner the dancing started, what a party!
Sunday morning, we all enjoyed a group breakfast before all took off for more adventures in this scenic area before heading home.
Our Reno Ski and Recreation Cub Trips are always so much fun and provide opportunities to get to know each other better. Be sure to take advantage of our Club trips!
