President's Message
The View From The Top
Greetings!
Despite the continued warm weather that is occurring as I sit down to write my monthly President’s article, it is clear that the seasons are changing. Tonight at our club weekly tennis we were forced to abandon the tennis courts earlier than what we are used to as early darkness set in. It’s hard to admit summer is ending, but welcome fall! And fall means ski season is just around the corner. I know our avid skiers are yelling “yahoo!!!”
Speaking of skiing, the annual UNR ski swap is also just around the corner. This is our chance to help out our community and promote skiing. This event is an annual fund-raiser for the UNR ski team and they count on our club to help out. It’s easy and fun to volunteer, and by doing so you also get to shop early for the best selection of ski equipment, winter clothing, etc. Look for the article in this newsletter with additional details.
What a successful membership drive we had! Thanks to all of you who brought guests, to those who helped greet and welcome our new members and guests, to our BBQ cooks Rob Turner and Todd Betterton, to our VP membership Joel Marlowe, to Lynn LeGoy, Betty Comprix, Sandy Stocks and Sherry Rose for working the membership table, to all who helped set-up and clean-up, and to all who renewed their membership! If you haven’t yet renewed, please don’t forget! Everyone needs to renew no later than November 30. Look for the membership form in this newsletter. We are going strong and having a blast, don’t miss out!
Remember, our general meetings will now be at Amelia’s Restaurant at 655 South Rock, still on the second Tuesday of the month. As always, socializing begins at 6 pm with the meeting starting at 7 pm. Amelia’s has plenty of room for us and is very accommodating for us to host our meetings.
Now get out there and enjoy the fall season. It’s a perfect time for hiking amongst the changing autumn colors.
Keep recreating,
Dianne
