Thinking of leading a trip? Places to Go, Things to Do, People to See!
By the time you read this Bay to Breakers will be a memory and hopefully you will have made your reservation deposit for the Houseboat Trip and bought your ticket for the Facademies. I’ll send off a final thank you to those Trip Leaders who currently have trips on our calendar. When you sign up for the Houseboat Trip give Sally Coullahan and Mike Hackett a big thank you for coming forward. They stepped in, at the last minute, since the trip was in jeopardy of happening. I know it will be a rollicking time. I also want to thank Todd Betterton for making the Cromberg Trip better and bringing it back. I didn’t know there was room for improvement on the trip but he always seems to have a few tricks up his sleeves. (Does he wear sleeves?)
Gary Drew is going to need a lot of help this year also. He will most likely want to be working on the fall calendar now so give him a call if you have any trip ideas or want to lead one. His number is 424-6141 or e-mail at: gary.drew@sbcglobal.net Please remember the calendar doesn’t fill up unless you step up! Let’s keep the good times rolling! Thanks for all of your help and a GREAT year! Lynn “Lynnski” LeGoy Trippin’ Tips Even though the Reno Ski and Recreation Club is a not for profit club your board works hard to safeguard the assets and finances of the club. When a trip is proposed the board considers the level of interest in the trip, the costs involved and the amount to be charged to the members. In order to safeguard the viability of each trip, the club, has over the years established various policies regarding trips and events which require payment from club members. It has come to our attention that many new members may not be familiar with these policies. They can all be found in the back of the Roster along with the club’s Constitution and By Laws. One of the most important policies, when it comes to trips is the “Refund Policy”. The policy states that no refund will be made for a trip unless specifically approved by the board. This means, if you place a deposit or pay for a trip and are unable to attend, you cannot count on a refund. You may receive a refund if circumstances allow. This policy was established to protect the club from financial loss. Quite often the club has to extend funds to secure accommodations in advance of collecting deposits from the membership. In the event that several people need to cancel the club usually has no way to recover those funds unless someone takes the vacated spot. If you find you cannot attend a trip; the best way to recover your expense is to sell your own trip to another member who has not already signed up. If you know well in advance of the trip, you can contact the trip leader to fill your spot. Every attempt will be made to do so however, there are no guarantees that your spot will be filled. Cancellations made at the last minute will most often not be recoverable. If you made reservations directly for accommodations, you would find similar policies. Some trips which are booked well in advance may have their own built in refund/cancellation policies. more trip leaders so please don’t hesitate to contact me. Please give me a call at 771-9667 or e-mail me at lynnski2@peoplepc.com if you would like to help out or have any suggestions. Let’s keep the good times rolling! Thanks, Lynn “Lynnski” LeGoy
