HELLO ALL!

This is the area of the website dedicated to the “and Recreation” side of the club…Here you will find all of our social events, including the weekly TGIF schedule, monthly (at least we try) group dinners, and any other “social” special community or area event that club members organize and offer to fellow RSRC family members! How many times have you gone to a restaurant, show or event and thought, “this would be great to share with a bunch of friends!” Well next time you get that urge give me a call at 827-5354 or email me at ahottoddie@hotmail.com and we will see what we can do to get your idea on what proves to be a very busy calendar. As I have said many times in the past, if it happening in this area, you can bet someone in this club is doing it…

BBQ and Movie Under the Stars

Come join Marlene and Gary Drew for an evening Barbecue and Movie Under the Stars. We will provide the barbecue meat. Please bring your favorite summer dish to share (nothing that requires heating or cooking, please), your own beverages and a lawn chair.

TGIF BBQ at Jenny’s

Bring a dish to share, your own drinks, and a lawn chair and join the rest of your RSRC buddies for our annual BBQ at Jenny’s house overlooking the Wolf Run golf course in south Reno. Jenny and Todd will once again provide the meat. Todd will man the “Q” and Jenny will mix up one of her special “tini’s” for anyone daring enough to try…

Is your July 4th going to be too quiet??

Come to the cookout at Tom and JoLee's on Sunday, July 4th at 4PM. Bring

a side dish to share, your own choice of beverage and perhaps an extra folding chair. We will provide chicken and pork loin on the grill. Tom will make his famous Texas Milk Shakes. If Reno isn't too broke we'll be able to see fireworks.

"TGIF" (Thank God It's Fun!) Thank goodness it’s Friday! We all love Friday’s and what better time to get together with friends when the work week is done and we have time to relax!

Our TGIF’s are weekly social gatherings held at different locations each week. People start trickling in at between 6 and 7 p.m. We usually are heading home by 9 or 10. Some people like to have dinner as a group and those groups form spontaneously on Friday night.

We never know who or how many will attend. This makes it somewhat of a nightmare for the bar or restaurant we are visiting, because our numbers vary from 20 or so people up to 60 or more. If you know of a place that has a large enough bar to take us, and would like to have a GIF there, please contact the new Social Director.

July 2010 TGIF Schedule

July 2: Cantina Los Tres Hombres, 926 Victorian Ave., Sparks - Since we will not be there for our general meeting for the next three months and they have such a great patio space.

July 9: BBQ TGIF at Jenny’s, South Reno - Most likely Jenny will provide the meat, just bring a dish to share, your own beverage, and a lawn chair…Get her address and phone # from the “Members Only” section of the website to mapquest or call for directions....

July 16: Sierra Gold, 680 South Meadows Pkwy., Reno – They are going to hold tables for us on their patio AND their happy hour is from 4-8pm daily.

July 23: Murrietta’s, 8195 S. Virginia St., Reno (in the shopping center with the pink Scolari’s) – They have a patio for for dining, and they have a nice big bar area.

July 30: Bullys, 2898 Vista Blvd., Sparks – The large patio is first come basis – so get there early.

AUGUST TGIF SCHEDULE

August 6: Vista Grill, Disc Dr., Sparks – Back to a summer favorite. They are reserving their beautiful patio for us!

August 13: Silver Peak, 124 Wonder, Reno - We haven’t been here in ages, and they have a great rooftop bar/dining. Their happy hour ends at 6; tables are first come basis.

August 20: Wolf Run Clubhouse, – Gotta have the annual putting contest/TGIF. Wolf Run is offering us a special: $10 gets you a drink and appetizers. For those interested in playing 9 holes before TGIF starts, call Jenny Miles for a tee time by August 6 th. Her number is: 852-0356.

August 27: Tamarack Junction – They are reserving the patio for us, and are even setting up a cash bar for those who aren’t ready to sit and eat.

Sept 3: Cadillac Ranch? – Behind Scheels, upstairs in the Legends shopping center. Great rooftop patio with an outdoor bar. They even have pool and bowling in the attached “Rack and Pins.”

*** FYI: July, Aug, Sept General Meeting and BBQ will be at Wildcreek Golf course. Look for the BBQ pavilion on the west side of the golf course *** The Club will provide hamburgers, veggie burgers, paper goods, and plasticware. Please bring a dish to share. Another great opportunity to get together with club members!

Please drop in at our General Meetings held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm (6:00 mixer) at Cantina Los Tres Hombres (Click here), 926 Victorian Ave, Sparks (at Victoria Square. It’s informal with announcements, guest speakers, and socializing. The Cantina staff welcomes us, and closes off the bar and stage area for our use only. They offer a full bar and their very extensive menu, including the Tuesday Night All-You-Can-Eat Taco Special for $7.99

Or, drop in at our weekly "TGIF" mixers held Fridays at various restaurant lounges around town. People usually start arriving from 6:00 to 7:00, and it winds down around 8:30 to 9:00.
